Innovation and heritage from the plateau.
The land
Temperate plateau studded with castle ruins — rolling mountains averaging 800m, deep forests, lakes used in summer and frozen in winter. Entirely landlocked: no sea coast, no ports, no sea lanes, and no maritime jurisdiction. The Danube on the southern edge is its only major waterway; everything else moves by rail and road.
The High Tatras dominate the upper-centre, with castle-ruin marks scattered across the forested plateau. The Danube bends across the southern edge.
