-ig- and -iĝ-
Cause something to happen vs. become — Esperanto's powerful verb pairs.

-iĝ- (become / intransitive)
-iĝ- adds 'become' or makes a verb intransitive: ruĝa (red) → ruĝiĝi (turn red), naski (give birth) → naskiĝi (be born). The subject changes state.
-ig- (cause / transitive)
-ig- means 'make/cause': lerni → lernigi (teach), ruĝa → ruĝigi (make red). Someone causes the change.
