Extending the Federal Franchise to Virtual Citizens

The Republic’s virtual citizenship programme has expanded the community of those who identify as Zandorian, yet the legal right to participate in federal elections remains confined to the founding population.

Three constitutional routes now lie before us: a pending Federal Court case, a potential enabling act by the governing coalition, and the more arduous option of a constitutional amendment requiring a two‑thirds majority in the Assembly.

Proponents argue that the very purpose of the €1.99 naturalisation process is to grant full civic belonging, while opponents caution that residency and tax contributions have not yet been uniformly defined across the four regions.

Our view is that any decision must emerge from a transparent parliamentary debate, allowing the diverse regional assemblies to voice their perspectives before the Federation commits to a change that will shape the electorate for generations.
