Deputies from all four regions took their seats, and the session was opened with the agenda item on the United States' recent sanctions against the International Criminal Court. The atmosphere was sober, reflecting the gravity of a measure that touches Zandoria’s long‑standing support for multilateral justice.

Washington announced the sanctions on Friday, targeting ICC officials, freezing assets and limiting the court’s ability to travel for investigations. Federal Foreign Affairs Office spokesperson Ana Méndez said the Republic “remains committed to the principles of international justice” but will not accept measures that threaten the court’s independence.

The Assembly will reconvene on Monday to vote on the resolution, a step that could signal Zandoria’s diplomatic posture ahead of the March 2027 federal elections.
