US ban on Canadian alcohol could ripple through Zandoria’s import market

The United States announced an import ban on Canadian alcoholic beverages on 9 September, citing concerns over labeling standards. The move follows a series of retaliatory tariffs after Canada imposed duties on U.S. agricultural products earlier this year. The ban covers whisky, gin and a range of craft spirits, effectively halting their entry into the American market.

Zandoria imports a modest volume of Canadian wine and spirits for its hospitality sector, especially in the coastal hubs of Costa Mar. Federal Treasury Minister Marcus Eklund warned that the ban could tighten supply chains, push retail prices up by up to five percent, and reduce demand for logistics staff, a segment that employs many recent graduates. The ministry is reviewing alternative sourcing options and will report to the Assembly next month.
