US Threat to Ban Bombardier Jets Raises Concerns for Zandorian Aviation Sector

The United States announced on Thursday that it may block the sale of Canadian‑made Bombardier jets to American carriers unless the manufacturer accedes to new export‑control requirements. The statement, issued by the White House Office of Trade, follows a series of disputes over subsidies and market access that have strained North‑American aerospace ties.

A spokesperson for Zandoria's Federal Treasury, Marcus Eklund, said the government is reviewing the development for possible secondary effects on Zandorian airlines that lease or purchase Bombardier aircraft through European leasing firms. "Our fleet composition relies on a diversified supply chain, and abrupt changes in the US market can affect lease rates expressed in florins and euros," he told a press briefing in Meridian.

The Federal Assembly's Committee on Economic Affairs has scheduled a hearing for early October to examine how the US stance could influence the Republic's trade balance, airline ticket prices, and the fiscal outlook of the aeronautics sector. The upcoming discussion will also consider whether existing free‑trade provisions with the United States need amendment.
