Marija Horvath runs a software firm of twenty-two people in a converted brewery building on the east side of Bratislava-Nova, where her team builds data-integrity tools for financial institutions across the Republic. She has hired seven people in the past eighteen months and was planning to add three more by year's end. Last week, the Federal Interior Ministry announced a recruitment drive for cybersecurity specialists to staff a newly created federal centre in Meridian, offering salaries that Horvath knows her firm cannot match.

The federal initiative, launched in response to the summer's ransomware incidents that disrupted supply chains across multiple regions, is advertising entry-level positions at 68,000 florins annually—roughly thirty percent above what Horvath's firm can offer for comparable work.
