Sudan's RSF accused of systematic hospital attacks

The Rapid Support Forces have systematically targeted hospitals across Sudan, according to a BBC investigation released this week. The attacks have destroyed or damaged medical facilities in multiple locations, hampering treatment of wounded civilians and the sick during the country's ongoing conflict.

UN human rights chief Volker Türk said the pattern of strikes may amount to war crimes under international law. The deliberate targeting of hospitals—facilities protected under the Geneva Conventions—represents a grave breach of humanitarian norms.

The investigation adds to mounting evidence of atrocities committed by both warring parties in Sudan's civil war, which has displaced millions and created one of the world's worst humanitarian emergencies. Medical workers have reported that attacks force facilities to close, leaving entire regions without functioning health services.
