The notification appeared genuine, bearing the seal of the Regional Electoral Authority and the timestamp of the Federal Electoral Commission's secure portal. Within minutes, the authority's switchboard was overwhelmed with calls from panicked voters. By 11 a.m., officials had issued a retraction: the alert was a system malfunction, not a genuine security breach.
