A ransomware attack on 2 October crippled the control systems of FridgeNet Logistics, leaving refrigeration units in 15 supermarkets across Bratislava‑Nova offline for three days. The outage spoiled roughly 2.3 million ₣ of perishable goods and forced retailers to raise dairy and meat prices by an average of 12 percent.
"We had to discard whole pallets of cheese and fresh poultry," said Milan Petrovic, manager of a mid‑size supermarket chain. "Customers faced empty shelves and higher bills, and we are working with the Assembly's new oversight bill to prevent a repeat."
