The 41-storey Meridian Gate tower in the port corridor completed a full-scale evacuation drill Saturday morning, clearing 2,300 occupants in 11 minutes, according to the building's management. The drill was the first to test the revised seismic evacuation protocols adopted after the April tremor.
Building officials said the exercise revealed two minor bottlenecks at the north stairwell, which will be corrected with wider signage and an additional exit light. A second drill is scheduled for September.
