Tech Firms in Nueva Singapur Face Growing Talent Exodus
Skilled workers migrate to Costa Mar and Tierra Verde as wage competition intensifies

The Nueva Singapur Chamber of Commerce released a survey last week showing that 22 percent of mid-level technology workers—defined as those with five to ten years of experience—left the region in the past eighteen months. Most migrated to Puerto Azul in Costa Mar or to San Vicente in Tierra Verde, where competing tech clusters have grown rapidly and wage offers have outpaced Nueva Singapur's historical rates. The exodus is raising alarm among regional business leaders and federal technology policy officials.
Salaries for senior software engineers in Nueva Singapur have stagnated at 85,000 to 95,000 florins annually, according to the Chamber's wage survey, while comparable roles in Puerto Azul now command 105,000 to 120,000 florins. The gap has widened as Costa Mar's port-adjacent tech sector has attracted venture capital and federal research-and-development subsidies. "We built the ecosystem here," said Marcus Chen, founder of Nexus Digital, a Nueva Singapur-based fintech firm. "Now we are watching it migrate because we cannot compete on compensation. "
The Regional Assembly convened an emergency economic committee meeting on Friday to discuss retention strategies. Governor Okonkwo suggested that the region might petition Meridian for targeted tax incentives for technology employers, though such incentives require federal approval and are politically contentious. The Partio de Unueco has historically opposed regional tax breaks as economically inefficient, while the Federacia Renovigo has championed them as market-friendly. A decision from Meridian is unlikely before Q3 2026.
