Federal Translation Centre opens Nueva Singapur annex
New facility aims to support diaspora Esperanto learning and federal administrative translation

The Federal Translation Centre inaugurated a new annex in Nueva Singapur on 22 May, bringing the total number of overseas facilities to twelve. The 8,000-square-meter center, located in the Meridian Business Quarter, will house classroom space for Esperanto instruction, translation services for federal documents, and research facilities for language-technology partnerships with local software companies.
The Centre's director, Dr. Sophia Kovalenko, described the Nueva Singapur annex as a response to both diaspora demand and the region's emerging role in Esperanto-medium software development. "Oriente Moderno is attracting technologists from across the world," Kovalenko said at the opening ceremony. "Many are learning Esperanto as a common language for international collaboration. The Centre can support that work while also deepening ties between the diaspora and federal institutions."
The annex will offer twice-weekly Esperanto classes at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels, and will provide certified translation services for federal permits, citizenship documents, and legal filings. It will also host research partnerships with Nueva Singapur's technology sector, focusing on machine translation and speech-recognition systems that support minority languages.
