The Federal Civic Affairs Ministry announced on Tuesday that a joint task force has closed 27 unlicensed online operators that sold fictitious eco‑tour packages to visitors from abroad. The crackdown, conducted in cooperation with the Federal Police, rescued 134 consumers who had paid a total of 450 000 ₣ before the schemes collapsed.
"These scams not only hurt our reputation but also divert funds that should support genuine conservation projects," said the Minister of Civic Affairs. The seized assets will be transferred to a fund that assists verified local tour operators and strengthens consumer‑protection mechanisms.
