The freeze follows a structural review that flagged inconsistencies in load-bearing certifications across seven buildings completed in the past five years. Regulators have not disclosed whether any buildings pose immediate risk, but the Port Authority's statement emphasized that Nueva Singapur's reputation as a global financial hub depends on construction standards that exceed federal minimums.

The suspension affects a mixed-use tower planned for the Meridian Financial District, a residential complex near the container berths, and an office-and-retail development scheduled to break ground in November. Architects and developers have begun submitting revised plans to meet the new certification framework, though the timeline for permit resumption remains unclear.
