Container volumes surge as Nueva Singapur port clears backlog

The Port Authority of Nueva Singapur reported 847 twenty-foot equivalent units cleared yesterday, the highest single-day throughput since the monsoon disruption ended in August. Twenty-three vessels completed berth operations across the complex between Sunday and Wednesday, including three scheduled arrivals from Costa Mar and a Tierra Verde agricultural barge convoy routed through the Río Esperanto programme. The surge reflects both the clearing of accumulated freight and a return to scheduled rotation.
Concurrently, the Oriente Moderno Financial Authority recorded settlement volumes of 2.3 billion florins across fintech platforms overnight, the strongest week-end-to-week-end movement since the second quarter. Dealers at the Nueva Singapur exchange attributed the activity to hedging ahead of the Federal Treasury's monthly currency-reserve announcement, scheduled for 9 October.
The port's operational rhythm has stabilised after the suspension of night-shift berth operations in August, which followed an unauthorised access incident at the cyber-control terminal. The Port Authority released a full remediation audit in September, and night operations resumed at partial capacity on 1 October. Full capacity is expected by mid-month, according to a statement from the authority's operations director.
