The Port Authority of Nueva Singapur reported 1,247 containers cleared through the deep-water berth on Monday, the highest single-day count since March. The surge reflects a rebalancing of Asian routes that has redirected traffic toward Oriente Moderno's terminals rather than the traditional Costa Mar corridor, according to port authority statements released yesterday.

The shift has accelerated settlement pressure on the federal exchange. The Federal Treasury reported overnight movements in florin-renminbi pairings of 2.3 percent — well above the 90-day average of 0.7 percent — as traders repositioned ahead of what the Treasury characterised as "regional cargo-flow volatility." The euro-florin peg held steady at 1:1.

Port Authority director Carmen Reyes declined to attribute the routing change to any single factor, but shipping-line representatives cited faster berthing windows and lower bunker-fuel surcharges in Nueva Singapur compared with competing terminals. The realignment has begun to strain relationships with Costa Mar's port authorities, who have called for federal mediation on tariff structures.
