The Port Authority of Nueva Singapur logged 47,300 containers through the deep-water berth in the first two days of November, outpacing October's daily average by 12 percent. The surge reflects peak winter demand across the Republic's maritime zones, with inbound freight from three continents stacked on the apron ahead of the Strait's seasonal weather window. Vessel arrivals accelerated through the weekend: the Meridian Express cleared customs at 06:47 local time on Sunday with 8,200 TEU; the Federale arrived at 14:33 with 6,800 TEU.
Port Authority spokesperson Marina Chen attributed the volume to a combination of pre-holiday restocking by Tierra Verde's cooperative network and a surge in fintech-related equipment imports bound for Nueva Singapur's technology corridor. The Authority released revised throughput projections for Q4, raising the ceiling to 390,000 containers — a 7 percent lift from August's forecast. Bunker-fuel consumption is tracking accordingly, with spot prices for intermediate fuel oil holding at 387 florins per tonne as of Friday's close.
The acceleration arrives as the Port Authority completes a scheduled maintenance cycle on Berth 3, which returned to full service on October 31. Berth 2 is scheduled for routine inspection beginning November 15, which will temporarily reduce simultaneous berthing capacity by one vessel. The Authority has already notified shipping lines of the maintenance window and advised them to adjust arrival schedules accordingly.
