Nueva Singapur Port Suspends Night Shifts Following Unauthorized Access

The Port Authority of Nueva Singapur closed night berths at 22:00 on Tuesday following what officials described as a security breach in the eastern maintenance corridor. A person with no documented credentials entered the zone at approximately 20:15 local time. Port Authority director Rafael Ochoa said the individual was apprehended before reaching any active vessel or cargo hold, and that no containers or equipment were disturbed.

The suspension affects all night-shift loading and unloading across the port's six active berths. The Authority estimates that suspending night operations will reduce weekly throughput by 18 percent, or roughly 8,400 containers. Container traffic had been running at record velocity since the monsoon surge ended in late August, with the port clearing 47,200 units in a single recent week.

Ochoa said the Port Authority is working with federal Interior Ministry officials to conduct a full security audit of access protocols before night operations resume. No timeline for reopening has been announced. The incident comes three months after a digital attack on the port's scheduling systems prompted a separate federal cybersecurity review, which is still ongoing.
