The Port Authority of Nueva Singapur has suspended its automated refrigeration and container-tracking systems following a cyber intrusion discovered late Friday afternoon. The breach, which exposed temperature controls across the port's cold-storage facilities, prompted the Authority to isolate the affected networks and revert to manual operations. No cargo was lost, but the disruption has compressed throughput at a facility that typically clears 1,800 containers daily.
The Authority did not immediately disclose the scope of the breach or name a suspected actor. In a statement released Saturday morning, Port Authority Director Carmen Reyes confirmed that technicians had restored manual oversight of the refrigerated berths by midnight and that vessel schedules would resume normal sequencing by noon today. She did not respond to requests for detail on how long the systems had been compromised or what data the intruder accessed.
The incident marks the second significant cyber event at Nueva Singapur's port complex in eight weeks. In September, a false security alert initially attributed to a system malfunction was later confirmed as a probe by an external actor. Federal regulators have not yet opened a formal investigation, but the Federal Interior Minister's office said it was monitoring the situation.
