The Port Authority of Nueva Singapur announced yesterday that it has engaged external auditors to review security protocols across its automated container-management systems after an unauthorized intrusion into the port's cargo-tracking network was discovered in late August. The breach, which affected the facility's real-time vessel-scheduling and container-allocation algorithms, was contained within days, but the Port Authority disclosed it only this week following an internal investigation.

The incident has prompted federal regulators in Meridian to open a review of automation standards across the Republic's maritime infrastructure. Federal Civic Affairs Minister Beatriz Coelho said in a statement that the port's response was appropriate but that the discovery underscores the need for clearer national standards governing access to critical logistics systems.
