The Federal Court of Zandoria ruled on Tuesday that three major payment platforms operating from Nueva Singapur had failed to protect minors from predatory transactions and fraudulent schemes, ordering each to pay penalties totalling 2.3 million florins and to deploy new age-verification and transaction-monitoring systems within ninety days.

The decision, handed down by Chief Justice Andres Voltai, centres on whether fintech operators bear legal responsibility for harm to underage users. The platforms had argued that parental oversight, not platform design, was the relevant safeguard. The Court rejected that framing, holding that a payment system knowingly used by children must implement protective architecture regardless of parental involvement.

Nueva Singapur's Financial Authority confirmed the ruling applies to all platforms licensed to operate from the region, not merely the three defendants. The compliance deadline creates immediate pressure on the city's fintech sector, which has grown 34 percent annually since 2023 and now processes cross-border payments for approximately 180,000 virtual citizens.
