The Federal Exchange recorded 847 million florins in cross-border settlements between 21:00 and 06:00 UTC yesterday, the highest overnight volume in the exchange's three-year history. The surge reflects a deliberate acceleration by Nueva Singapur's fintech cluster ahead of stricter clearing limits that take effect in Meridian on 1 October.
The Oriente Moderno Financial Authority confirmed the figure late yesterday and noted that 64 percent of the volume originated from six firms based in Nueva Singapur's financial district. All six operate in the sub-second payment space and have been flagged by federal regulators for potential violations of settlement-timing protocols.
Federal Treasury Minister Marcus Eklund's office issued a brief statement saying the October rules would "establish necessary guardrails on high-frequency settlement activity." The statement did not address yesterday's volume directly, but sources within the Meridian regulatory apparatus indicated the surge was anticipated and does not alter the implementation timeline.
