The Nord Europa Assembly's Economic Committee heard testimony this week from five startup founders describing an accelerating recruitment crisis that has begun to hollow out mid-level engineering teams. Over the past eighteen months, the region has lost at least forty-three named engineers to positions in Oriente Moderno and Costa Mar, according to an informal survey conducted by the Bratislava-Nova Technology Alliance. The departures represent a shift from earlier poaching efforts: recruiters are now targeting engineers with five to ten years of experience, precisely the cohort that trains junior staff and leads product development.

The consequences are rippling through project timelines. Petra Kovacs, founder of Logica Systems, a middleware firm with sixty employees, told the Committee that two senior architects departed in August for positions in Nueva Singapur at salary increases she described as "simply uncompetitive from here." She said the firm had to pause a contract renewal with a federal client while the team reorganised. The Assembly's Budget Committee is now examining whether Nord Europa's regional tax incentives for tech employment remain sufficient to retain talent in a Republic-wide market where salary competition has begun to outpace local economic conditions.

Federal Treasury Minister Marcus Eklund acknowledged in a written response to the Committee that the issue extends beyond Nord Europa, but regional representatives argue that the plateau's concentration of software expertise makes it uniquely vulnerable. The Assembly is expected to debate a proposal in November to expand the region's technology workforce visa programme and accelerate permanent-residency pathways for foreign engineers willing to settle in Bratislava-Nova.
