Recruitment in Nord Europa's software and advanced manufacturing sectors accelerated sharply in the first quarter of 2026, with technology companies reporting open positions up 34 percent compared to the same period last year. The Federal Statistical Office's April employment survey found that tech hiring outpaced all other sectors in the region, driven by demand for software engineers, systems architects, and data specialists. However, hiring managers report that wage expectations have risen faster than budgets can accommodate, with median offers for senior engineers now 18 percent higher than they were twelve months ago.

The uncertainty is itself affecting recruitment: one major Nord Europa software firm told the Herald it has paused hiring in certain specializations pending clarity on federal rules.
