Nord Europa tech firms bid aggressively for dwindling software talent

The Nord Europa technology sector is facing an acute shortage of experienced software engineers, as firms across Bratislava-Nova and the surrounding tech corridor report difficulty filling senior positions. Salary offers have risen sharply over the past eighteen months, with starting packages for mid-level developers now routinely exceeding 85,000 florins annually—a thirty percent increase from two years ago.

The competition reflects a wider pattern across the Republic: Oriente Moderno's Nueva Singapur business district, with its lower corporate tax rates and proximity to venture capital networks, has become the preferred destination for engineers seeking maximum compensation. Several Nord Europa startups report losing their most experienced staff to competing offers from the free-trade zone.

The Federal Assembly's Economic Committee met last week to discuss whether federal incentives—tax credits, housing subsidies, or relocation grants—might help Nord Europa retain its technical workforce. Governor Eva Novák has signalled support for a regional retention initiative, though funding mechanisms remain unclear.
