The Nord Europa Chamber of Technology and Commerce filed a formal complaint with the Federal Interior Ministry on Friday, alleging that Meridian's civil-service recruitment structure gives the federal capital an unfair advantage in poaching software engineers from the regions. The complaint cites a two-tier wage scale embedded in federal hiring rules: positions classified as 'federal technology support' in Meridian command a 23 percent salary premium over identical work classified as 'regional infrastructure technology' in Bratislava-Nova and secondary cities.
The disparity has accelerated attrition from Nord Europa's private software sector, according to data filed with the Regional Assembly's Economic Committee. The chamber argues the gap is not market-driven but structural: a federal classification rule that treats the same work differently depending on geography.
The complaint names Federal Interior Minister Tomás Vidal as the official responsible for the wage framework and requests a formal review before the March 2027 federal election. The chamber has also asked Nord Europa's Regional Assembly to raise the matter with the Federal Council, where the region's four appointed members could demand a debate on inter-regional labour equity.
