Federal Civil Service Rotation Brings New Director to Nord Europa Office

The Federal Civic Affairs Ministry announced yesterday that Tomás Vidal's office will transfer the current director of the Nord Europa Federal Service Bureau to a post in Meridian, effective 1 November. The move follows the three-year rotation cycle that governs federal personnel assignments across all four regions. The incoming director, to be named by mid-October, will oversee federal compliance in heritage restoration funding, technology-sector regulation, and civil-service recruitment quotas in the region.

The rotation touches a file that has grown contentious. Nord Europa's Assembly has repeatedly pre-empted federal data-protection frameworks with its own civic codes, and Meridian's Heritage Office has flagged shortfalls in the restoration fund that the region's stonemasons say are driving labor costs upward. The new director will inherit both disputes at a moment when federal hiring freezes have thinned the civil-service roster.

Governor Eva Novák declined to comment on the rotation, but a spokesperson for the Bratislava-Nova Mayor's Office said the region welcomed "continuity in federal partnership" and looked forward to "productive engagement" with the incoming director. The Federal Civic Affairs Ministry did not name the replacement, citing standard confidentiality in personnel matters.
