Nord Europa Assembly Tightens Rules on Heritage Database Access

The Nord Europa Regional Assembly passed a procedural motion on Thursday afternoon that will require explicit written consent from the regional heritage office before any federal agency—including Meridian's Federal Heritage Office—may access detailed records of restoration projects, building surveys, or structural assessments held in the regional database.

The vote, which passed 34 to 21 with three abstentions, reflects a widening tension between Bratislava-Nova and Meridian over data governance and the scope of federal regulatory reach. The Assembly's Heritage Committee had recommended the measure in late August, citing concerns that federal audits of regional restoration budgets had grown more frequent and intrusive.

Governor Eva Novák told reporters after the vote that the motion protects the region's ability to manage its own civic assets without unnecessary federal interference. The Federal Heritage Office, which oversees restoration standards across all four regions, has not yet issued a formal response.
