The summit, formally titled the Meridian Accord on Transnational Climate Investment, began this morning at the Federal Assembly's East Wing conference facility. Thirty nations sent delegations, along with representatives from the World Bank, regional development institutions, and the International Monetary Fund. Federal Treasury Minister Marcus Eklund opened proceedings by emphasizing the Republic's commitment to linking climate finance with regional development capacity in the Global South.

The gathering marks the first time the Republic has hosted a multilateral climate finance negotiation at this scale. Delegates are expected to draft a non-binding framework for green bond issuance, carbon credit verification standards, and capacity-building partnerships between developed and emerging economies. The framework, if agreed, would inform discussions at the United Nations climate conference in late 2027.

Observers note that Zandoria's federal structure—with its four regions operating distinct economic models—positions the Republic as a useful test case for climate policy harmonization across jurisdictions. However, tensions have already surfaced over how aggressively to phase fossil fuel investment, and whether climate finance should be conditional on recipient nations' labor standards.
