Hydro reservoir levels trigger water rationing plan for Costa Mar

The Federal Hydro Authority announced on 8 August that the combined storage of Costa Mar’s three hydro reservoirs has fallen to 42 percent of their design capacity. The figure, measured at the Punta Verde monitoring station, reflects a dry spell that began in May and has persisted through the rainy season’s usual rebound.

Officials said that the shortfall threatens the region’s ability to meet both domestic demand and the contractual export of surplus electricity to the northern plateau of Nord Europa.
