Reservoir levels hold steady as dry-season export target slips

The Federal Hydro Authority's August bulletin, released this morning, shows Costa Mar's reservoir system at 78 percent of capacity, down two points from July but above the five-year average for this date. The reading, taken at the La Esperanza dam on the isthmus river system, reflects a dry-season start that has been mild by recent standards.

The authority has trimmed the region's export target to neighbouring regions by 4 percent for the quarter, citing lower-than-expected inflow in the upper catchment. The shortfall is expected to be covered by the federal grid's other hydro sources, and no domestic rationing is forecast.
