Rosa María, who has sold yerba mate at the market for thirty-two years, noticed them the week they went up. She stood there for a moment, she said, reading her own language in official paint.
The signage is part of a broader shift in Tierra Verde's approach to its founding culture. The Regional Assembly's education committee voted last month to extend Guaraní-language instruction from two hours weekly to four in all public primary schools.
