The school had closed after a complaint lodged with the Tierra Verde Regional Assembly alleged that the Centro's curriculum placed too much emphasis on traditional oral narratives and not enough on standardized proficiency testing. The complaint came from a parent who believed the school was failing to prepare students for the federal language examinations required for university admission.
For four months, the building stood empty.
