On Monday, GlobalTech announced a €13 billion data centre project near Bratislava‑Nova, promising up to 8,000 new jobs across construction, operations and ancillary services.
The site occupies a former industrial complex that borders the historic Old Town quarter, triggering a mandatory heritage impact review under the Federal Heritage Office guidelines.
Governor Eva Novák welcomed the investment as a catalyst for regional growth, while the Nord Europa Assembly’s Committee on Digital Infrastructure warned that a shortage of qualified engineers could delay the rollout.
The Assembly is slated to vote on a supplemental regulatory amendment next week, and Treasury Minister Marcus Eklund indicated that additional federal funds may be earmarked to support infrastructure upgrades, a development the full story will explore.
