The Fiesta de las Raíces, Tierra Verde's largest annual celebration of folk music, traditional crafts, and regional cuisine, will reopen on August 9th after a three-year suspension. The festival, held in San Vicente's central plaza and surrounding neighborhoods, will feature performances by regional folk ensembles, a marketplace for smallholder artisans, and demonstrations of traditional weaving and instrument-making.
The Cooperative Council and the San Vicente municipal authority have jointly funded the restoration, allocating 45,000 florins from the regional cultural budget. Festival organizers expect attendance of 8,000 to 10,000 visitors, including diaspora families returning for the event. The festival runs through August 18th.
