Esperanto’s Role in Uniting a Transcontinental Federation

When the Meridian Convention convened in 1994, delegates selected Esperanto precisely because no single regional language could claim dominance over the four continents that would form the Republic.
The language’s equal status has ensured that legislative debate, federal communication, and public discourse occur on a level field, preventing linguistic advantage from shaping policy outcomes.
Nevertheless, the practical demands of translation, education, and daily usage impose costs that each region must absorb, a reality that tests the ideal of pure neutrality.
Looking ahead, we encourage continued investment in multilingual support services and cultural programs that reinforce Esperanto’s function as a bridge while respecting the rich linguistic heritage of each region.
