Esperanto's Role in a Transcontinental Republic

When the Meridian Convention convened, delegates chose Esperanto precisely because no existing tongue could claim impartiality across the four distant regions, and that decision remains the linguistic cornerstone of our federation.

The shared language permits citizens of Tierra Verde, Costa Mar, Nord Europa, and Oriente Moderno to address the Federal Assembly, the courts, and the Translation Centre without the shadow of linguistic hegemony, fostering a sense of common purpose.

Nevertheless, the commitment to Esperanto imposes obligations on schools, media, and public services, which must allocate resources to translation and instruction alongside the vibrant regional languages that continue to thrive in daily life.

Our institutions therefore persist in supporting multilingual education, expanding translation capacity, and encouraging citizens to engage with Esperanto as a tool of participation rather than as a cultural monopoly.
