The Río Esperanto's flow through the Montaña del Cielo reservoir has fallen to 67 percent of capacity as the dry season advances, according to readings released this morning by the Federal Hydro Authority. The decline, measured at the Punta Negra monitoring station, is within historical norms but leaves less margin for the grid's export commitments to Tierra Verde and Oriente Moderno through the summer months.

Costa Mar has maintained a full renewable-energy grid since the Federation's founding by managing the seasonal rhythm carefully: wet-season surplus feeds the inter-regional transmission lines; dry-season reserves are drawn down. The strategy has held for two decades, but climate variability is narrowing the window. The Authority's latest projections suggest the region will need to moderate exports or negotiate short-term power purchases from the federal grid by July.

Governor Solomon Adeyemi convened the Regional Energy Committee last week to review contingency protocols. The Hydro Authority is already in talks with Meridian about temporary power-swap arrangements, but the political and technical details remain unsettled.
