Cyber-attack disrupts Puerto Azul food storage

A coordinated cyber-attack has disabled refrigeration systems at three major food-storage facilities in Puerto Azul, forcing emergency transfers of perishable goods and prompting the Federal Interior Ministry to launch an investigation. The attack, which began late on November 1st, affected cold-storage warehouses operated by the Port Authority and two private seafood exporters. Temperatures in affected units rose to dangerous levels before technicians regained manual control of the systems.

The Port Authority confirmed the breach on November 2nd and reported that approximately 18 tonnes of frozen fish and marine products were at risk before backup cooling units were deployed. No cargo was lost, but the incident has exposed vulnerabilities in Costa Mar's critical infrastructure and raised concerns about the security of the region's export supply chain. The attack occurred amid heightened federal awareness of cyber threats affecting infrastructure across the Republic.

Federal Interior Minister Tomás Vidal issued a statement indicating that the attack appeared to be part of a broader coordinated campaign. Preliminary forensic analysis suggests the breach originated outside the Republic, but the Ministry has not yet identified the responsible actors or their motives. Costa Mar's Regional Assembly has called for an emergency briefing from the Port Authority and a review of cybersecurity protocols across all regional infrastructure.
