The Nord Europa Assembly's Heritage Committee voted yesterday to accept a twenty-three percent cut to next fiscal year's restoration allocation, bringing the budget from 2.8 million florins to 2.15 million. The reduction follows a directive from the Federal Treasury, which cited competing demands across the Republic's disaster-mitigation and climate-adaptation spending.

The cut affects three major projects: the stabilisation of the Dominikan Church's eastern wall, the restoration of the 14th-century guild quarter's drainage system, and the ongoing masonry work on the Primate's Palace. Each project will see its timeline extended, though none will be halted entirely.

Heritage Committee chair Petra Svensson told the Assembly that the cuts reflect a broader federal reassessment of spending priorities, not a loss of confidence in Nord Europa's restoration work. Yet the reduction comes at a moment when the region's stonemasons and conservation specialists face competing job offers from Oriente Moderno's rapid urban-development sector.
