The restoration of Bratislava-Nova's Town Hall, begun in 2022, has entered its final phase with the completion of masonry work on the building's eastern facade. The 14th-century structure, which served as the seat of the city council until 1998, has been closed to the public since 2019, when structural surveys revealed extensive deterioration in the limestone facing and the underlying timber framework. The city's Department of Heritage and Civic Buildings announced on Wednesday that the masonry phase—the most labour-intensive component of the project—is now complete.

The restoration team, led by the Vienna-based firm Steinwerk & Partner, has replaced approximately forty percent of the original stone facing using limestone quarried from the same source as the original material, a technique that the Federal Heritage Office now requires for all major civic restorations. The project has cost 4.2 million florins so far, with an additional 1.8 million budgeted for interior work, systems installation, and final finishing. The city expects to reopen the building in the spring of 2027 as a civic museum and event space.

The Town Hall is one of seven major civic buildings in Bratislava-Nova that date to the medieval period and remain in active use or restoration. The restoration is part of a broader federal initiative to preserve the architectural heritage of the four regional capitals while adapting them for contemporary civic purposes. The Federal Heritage Office has provided grants covering sixty percent of the project cost; the remainder comes from the city budget and a private foundation dedicated to Central European architectural conservation.
