Nord Europa Assembly Backs Framework for Direct Federal Talks

Bratislava-Nova — The Nord Europa Assembly convened in special session on Tuesday to adopt what its sponsors call a "Charter of Direct Engagement," a procedural framework that would allow the region's delegation to the Federal Assembly to negotiate technology regulations jointly with Meridian rather than imposing them unilaterally. The vote, 38-22, reflects a shift in the regional consensus after eighteen months of parallel regulatory systems that have stalled federal commerce and drawn criticism from Oriente Moderno's business delegation.

Governor Eva Novák, who introduced the motion, framed the step as an exercise in federalism rather than a retreat. "We have not abandoned the principle that Nord Europa's civic codes must reflect our values," she said in remarks to the chamber. "We have chosen instead to argue those values at the table where the whole Republic sits." The framework does not require the region to adopt federal standards; it establishes a twelve-week negotiation window before either party can pursue unilateral action.

The vote splits the region's political bloc. The Nord-Slovaka Bloko, which has opposed federal technology regulation on procedural grounds, abstained. La Verda Aliro and the Partio de Unueco both supported the motion, citing the need for unified standards on artificial intelligence development and data privacy across the Republic's software industry.
