Foreign agritech hub sparks land‑use debate in San Vicente

GreenFuture Labs, a multinational agritech corporation, announced on Monday its intention to construct a €12 billion research hub on the outskirts of San Vicente, promising up to 5,000 high‑skill jobs and a new centre for climate‑resilient crop development.

The company has secured a preliminary lease for 200 hectares of state‑owned land, pending final approval from the Federal Treasury and the Federal Office for Cooperative Affairs, which will oversee the integration of the project with existing agricultural cooperatives.

Local cooperative leaders voiced concern that the rapid land allocation could exacerbate the region’s longstanding land‑registration backlog, potentially delaying fair‑price scheme access for smallholder farms that rely on timely certification.

Federal officials say the project aligns with the Republic’s strategic goal to position Zandoria as a leader in sustainable agriculture, but the Assembly’s upcoming session will decide whether additional funding for infrastructure upgrades will accompany the investment.
