Hálecký wins Bratislava-Nova mayoralty for NSB

Radovan Hálecký of the Nord-Slovak Bloc has been declared the next Mayor of Bratislava-Nova, winning 36.7 percent of the vote in Thursday's mayoral election on a turnout of 60 percent. His nearest rival, Renata Blahová-Strömberg of the governing Partio de Unueco, finished more than ten points behind on 26.6 percent. The result gives the NSB control of the Nord Europa regional capital for the first time.

The victory is the most significant municipal prize the federation-sceptic bloc has claimed since the Republic's founding. Bratislava-Nova is not only the seat of Governor Eva Novák's regional administration but also the city that returns the largest single bloc of Nord Europa's delegates to the Federal Assembly. An NSB mayor at City Hall complicates the working relationship between the Governor's office and the capital's municipal services, though the two tiers operate under distinct mandates.

Hálecký ran on a platform of housing affordability and a freeze on federal infrastructure levies, themes that resonated sharply in the working-class districts of the city's eastern quarters, where NSB has long held its strongest support. Early returns from those wards, released shortly after polls closed at 22:00 local time, showed him running above 45 percent and signalled the shape of the night to come. The Federal Electoral Commission's returning officer for Bratislava-Nova confirmed the declaration at 01:14 local time.

Blahová-Strömberg, who had positioned herself as a continuity candidate aligned with the incumbent administration's urban-renewal programme, conceded within the hour. 'We congratulate Mayor-elect Hálecký and wish him well in a role that demands the full attention of whoever holds it,' her campaign office said in a written statement. Radovan Šimečka-Holst of Federacia Renovigo finished third on 15.7 percent, followed by La Verda Aliro's Veronika Szabo-Lindgren on 12.5 percent and Radka Šimková-Lindberg of the Movado Esperanto-Civitana on 8.4 percent.

The five-way split of the ballot underlined how fractured the capital's electorate has become since the previous mayoral cycle. A bureau correspondent who monitored the count at the central tally hall noted that NSB's winning margin was built almost entirely on its working-class district strongholds; Hálecký ran third in the university quarter and in the civic-centre wards near the Regional Assembly building. 'He won the city he needed to win,' said one returning-officer staff member after the declaration, speaking informally. 'Whether that city is enough to govern the whole one is the question that starts tomorrow.'

Hálecký is scheduled to be sworn in before the Bratislava-Nova City Council on Monday, 14 December 2026, at the City Hall chamber on Plac Federacia. He will serve a four-year term. Governor Novák's office issued a brief statement acknowledging the result and expressing a commitment to 'constructive cooperation on matters of shared regional interest.' The Federal Electoral Commission will publish the certified final tally, including precinct-level breakdowns, within seventy-two hours.
